What is a Prepaid card?
Your Boomerang Prepaid Card™ is like a normal bank card as it's a Visa® debit card, except that there is no need for you to go through all that pain of setting up a bank account. The Prepaid Visa® carries a variable amount of money, based on the amount which has been loaded onto the card when purchased or at a subsequent time after purchase. The card carries a maximum balance which is a hefty £5,000.00. Basically, you can only spend the amount you have loaded and importantly, you cannot go overdrawn.

Designed with the credit crunch in mind, we have combined everything you could need and more, and wrapped it up into one simple card "The Boomerang Prepaid Card™" Whether its getting discounts on purchases, cashback on purchases, or simply taking cash out of any ATM where VISA® is accepted. It is a VISA® debit card without the need for a bank account so whatever your financial status is you will always have a way of getting money!
What is a Boomerang Prepaid Card™ with Photo and DOB?
The Boomerang Prepaid Card™ with Photo and DOB is a unique all in one card, designed with students in mind and provides the facilities used in everyday life at Uni. Whether its getting discounts on purchases, cashback on purchases, Student ID, Proof of Age or simply taking cash out of any ATM where VISA® is accepted. It is a VISA® debit card without the need for a bank account so whatever your financial status is you will always have a way of getting money!

What is Boomerang Rewards?
Boomerang Rewards is our scheme to help make you money while you spend it! Through our key partners we are able to offer you cashback, discounts, freebies and monthly prizes just for being one of our members. You must activate your account to gain access to these benefits and for cashback, make sure you only purchase through your account to qualify for your cashback. We cannot offer any cashback at present for purchases made outside of this system. Well not yet anyway, but we are working on it so keep watching your account for updates!
How much is a Boomerang Prepaid Card™?
That's the best part. The Boomerang card only costs £10 to buy and there are NO annual fees so with an expiry date of 3 years that's £3.33 per year! Please check out usage fee's page for further information.
How do the Reward's work?
When you buy a Boomerang Prepaid Card™, you can become a member of Boomerang Rewards. To visit Boomerang Rewards click here and register. Once inside the rewards site, you can shop directly using your Boomerang Prepaid Card™, which can save you up to £1000, earn you cashback, provide discounts, competitions and loads more fantastic offers for students.

What checks will you do when I order my card?
When you order a Boomerang Prepaid Card™, we'll check various databases to verify your identity, but will not be performing credit checks. We may require evidence of your identity. The Boomerang card issuer, Alliance & Leicester plc, may also ask you to provide some documentary evidence to prove this and electronic checks may be carried out to confirm your identity.
Who can order a Boomerang Prepaid Card?
Anyone over 18 can order a card. We have two card designs available.You don't have to be a Student to have a Boomerang Prepaid Card! Mum, Dad, Aunties and Uncles can have one too! Because we DO NOT credit check anyone, passing the Identity Verification enables everyone to have a card.
Can you reject my application?
Yes, the application can be rejected, if you cannot prove an individuals identity.
How does the referral scheme work?
If you like your card, you might wish to recommend it to your friends and family. If this recommendation leads to a successful sale of a Boomerang Prepaid Card™, we will thank you by paying £2 directly onto your card. click here to go to our email referral scheme. Don't forget to type in your last 9 digits of your card when prompted otherwise we won't know who to pay the £2 to!

Blocking your Card
You can block your card through the "My Boomerang" section on the Boomerang website, just follow the simple instructions once you have logged on. Or you can call our customer services team on 0845 680 2273 and our advisors will help you with you enquiry and if the card needs blocking, they will do that for you.

I would like to buy a Boomerang Prepaid Card™. How do I do this?
Click on the 'Apply Now' button on our home page. You can pay for it using any credit of debit card or even through paypal if you have an account. Other methods of buying the card will become available soon.
Is there any agreement to fill in?
No. When you apply and buy your Boomerang Prepaid Card™ you will be asked to agree with the Terms and Conditions which are applicable to the Card you wish to purchase. Ticking the box is the equivalent to signing that you agree with these Terms and Conditions. Signing the back of the card, Activating and using the card is further acceptance of the Terms and Conditions.
When do I get my card?
I know, can't wait to get your hands on your card! Unless you here from us, we will issue your card within fourteen days of receiving your approved application. For security purposes, your PIN will arrive 2-3 days after your card order submission.
What do I need to do after I have received my card?
Just like all other cards, you must sign the signature strip on the back of the Boomerang Prepaid Cardtrade; as soon as you receive it. You must then activate your card before you can access your account or any further funds can be loaded onto the Card. To activate you card, visit the web site and click on activate, remember that activation number you gave us when you where applying, well you need it now. Just enter the 5 digit number you saved when prompted.
I need to change my PIN?
Yes of course you can.... Just visit any Alliance & Leicester ATM machine to request a pin change or request a new pin by calling our support team on 0845 680 2273.
Can other people pay money onto my Card?
You can load money onto your card by logging into "My Boomerang". Here you can choose to Top up by standing order, bank transfer, BACS and debit card or Credit Card.
If a friend or family member wants to do a one-time Top-Up onto your Card, and they have a bank account with an online facility, then they will be able to load your card if you supply them with the correct bank account and Payment Reference details (see Can I top up my Boomerang Prepaid Card™? question). The maximum load when you purchase the card will be £100. Once you've received and activated your card. Your Boomerang Prepaid Card™ cannot be loaded more than three times in any one day. The balance on your Prepaid Card can never exceed £5000 at any time. We reserve the right to refuse to accept any particular loading transaction.
I have just loaded money onto my card, how long does it take for you to apply the credit?
Once loaded by a bank transfer, standing order it can take up to 4 working days for the money to reach your card account and show a credit. Funds will normally be available within 24 hours if topped up by debit or credit card.
I've just received my card, help it's not working?
Have you activated your card? You will need to activate your card when you receive it. Please go to the 'Activate' section of this website to do this. After this you will need to load it using the load facility on this website or you can load it via standing order, BACS Payments or debit and credit card.
Oh no, my card has suddenly stopped working?
This could be for a number of reasons:
- Your card is damaged
- You have no balance left on your card and need to load some more
- You have Locked your card
- We have Locked your card for security purposes or on your instruction
- The card has expired (please check the expiry date on the card itself)
What is the 'Initial Load'?
This is the amount of money you wish to load onto your card for spending for the first time. This amount must be a minimum of £10 and a maximum of £100.
Can I Top-Up my Boomerang Prepaid Card™?
Certainly. You can top up your Boomerang in a variety of ways. Just visit the "Top up" page on our website to look at the options available, these include Debit/Credit Card, Bank Transfer and Standing order.
I want to load money onto my card on a regular basis?
You, your parent, employer or anyone else can set up a Standing Order mandate to make regular payments from their bank account onto your card. This amount can be a minimum of £10 and a maximum of £5,000 howvever the card balance must not exceeding the card limit of £5,000. The person or organization making the regular payments can amend or stop these payments when they wish. You can receive one of these loads per month, or up to 12 per year. Fees may apply. Can I use the card to withdraw cash from any ATM?
Oh Yes... You can withdraw cash from any ATM with a VISA® sign, up to the available balance on your card or the maximum amount permitted by the ATM (whichever amount is the smaller). Fees apply. Please view our fee's page for further details.
Will I receive a monthly statement?
No. However, you can view your current balance and transactions online free of charge through the ‘My Boomerang’ login on this website.
Need to return an item I have purchased?
Each retail store has its own return policy and will handle the returns in the same manner as any other Visa transaction. They may either credit your card, provide a cash refund or a store credit.
Do I use my Boomerang Prepaid Card™?
To pay with your Boomerang Prepaid Card™, simply hand your card to the cashier, wait a few seconds while it's passed through the machine, sign a slip or enter your PIN. That's it. Your Boomerang Prepaid Card™ account is debited straight away and details of the transaction are stored online for you to reconcile with your receipt. There's no bill to pay at the end of the month and the dates, locations and amounts all appear on your online statement, so you can check them easily.
Where can I use my Boomerang Prepaid Card™?
You can use it anywhere you see the VISA® acceptance mark in store and online, at over 29 million locations worldwide. We are sorry but you can't use your card at any automated fuel dispenser (Pay at Pump), for any gambling transactions or for any illegal purpose.

Will I earn interest on my Boomerang Prepaid Card™?
No, you will not earn any interest on any funds loaded on your card.
I need to change my personal details?
You must let us know as soon as possible by using the "My Boomerang" facility on the website you can change your, address, phone number or email address. If we contact you in relation to your Boomerang Prepaid Card™, for example - to notify you that we have cancelled your card or to send you a refund by cheque, we will use the most recent contact details you have provided to us. Any email to you will be treated as being received as soon as it is sent by us. We will not be liable to you if your contact details have changed and you have not told us. You may also phone our Customer Services on 0845 680 2273.
I want to cancel my Boomerang Prepaid Card™?
You can cancel your Boomerang Prepaid Card by sending an email to us using the "Contact Us" function on the Website. Then cut your Boomerang Prepaid Card™ in half through the signature box and magnetic strip, ensuring the CHIP is cut in half and disposed of it safely. Once we have received your cancellation request, the refund of the funds remaining on your card will be processed. There needs to be at least £10 balance on the card for us to process your refund as we will charge £10 to do so. A cheque for the refund (Card Balance minus £10 fee) will be sent to the registered card address.
When does my Boomerang Prepaid Card™ Expire?
Unlike most other Prepaid cards the Boomerang is valid for 3 years. Before the card expires, we will contact you to arrange for a replacement card to be sent out or alternatively you can simply not renew it.
What happens when my Boomerang Prepaid Card™ expires?
Your Card will be valid for 3 years. When it expires, you will no longer be able to use your card and we will arrange for the balance of funds to be transferred to your new card, after deducting any outstanding transactions and fees (including the replacement fee), if you reapply. If you have not used your card for 3 months before expiry or if insufficient funds exist on the card to meet the replacement fee, we will not issue a replacement.
We will not issue a new card if you tell us in writing at least 28 days before the date your card expires that you wish to cancel your card and require a refund instead (if there are sufficient funds to cover the cancellation fee – see terms and conditions.
What happens if my card is lost or stolen?
If you lose your card or it is stolen or you suspect that your card has been used by someone else, you must tell us as soon as you can by calling us on our 24 hour helpline 0845 680 2273, we will then cancel your card. If you ask us to do so, we will ask the police to investigate any suspected misuse of your card and they may need more information and assistance from you. You can also block and replace the card via the "my accounts" section of the Boomerang website.
Can I have the balance on my account refunded to me?
Once we have received your cancellation request, the refund of the funds remaining on your card will be processed. There needs to be at least £10 balance on the card for us to process your refund as we will charge £10 to do so. A cheque for the refund (Card Balance minus £10 fee) will be sent to the registered card address.

Will I pay any interest charges on my Boomerang Card?
No. There is no interest to pay and no late payment fees on your Boomerang card. Remember it's not a credit card so you can not exceed the funds you have on your account. For a breakdown on all fees and charges applying to your account click here.
Delivery of Cards to Overseas Applicants
Please note that any card orders for overseas applicants can only be delivered to a UK address. We are sorry about this but this is the only way we can fulfill the delivery of the card and ensure that you do receive it. Once you have arrived in the UK and moved into your new address, please let us know by calling the Customer Service Team on 0845 680 2273, press Option 5 and we will arrange for your card to be sent immediately. Alternatively, you can email us on Overseas@boomerangprepaidcard.co.uk with your details and we will send your card accordingly.
